Higher Education and Applied Technology Center or the HEAT CENTER...
The Higher
Education and Applied Technology (HEAT) Center is key to OED's
efforts to support Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) and attract new
technology businesses to the county. Located on I-95, minutes from
the Proving Ground, the 152-acre campus offers advanced degree
programs and technology resources to Harford's businesses and
residents, including high speed internet access, video-conferencing,
incubator facilities, and individualized training opportunities.

Battelle, one of the world's largest research and
development firms, officially opened its new Harford County
laboratory and office facility - the BEST Center - on the HEAT
Center Campus in March 2002. The
$200 Million, state-of-the-art research and development facility
located on the grounds of the HEAT Center campus in Aberdeen is home
to more than 200 scientists and technicians, and spans over 80,000 sq.ft. to include 16 chemistry and biology labs, offices and a
conference center. The BEST Center is a catalyst for further Higher
Technology development in the region.
